The Hotel was built at the turn of the 20th century, in 1906. Having witnessed more than a century of history, Hotel Massena Nice now features amongst the most beautiful 4-star hotels in Nice.
In 1906, the hotel opened as the “Hotel des Corses”. From the very start of the century, Hotel Massena embraced the Belle Epoque trend and became a favourite holiday destination for the aristocracy, within the city of Nice and on the French Riviera.
Hotel Massena Nice : some time later, Hotel des Corses changed its name to Grand Hotel Massena. The hotel was indeed ideally located right in the centre of Nice, nestled between the umbrella pines on Place Massena, the historic Vieille Ville (Old Town), and the beaches on the other side of the Promenade des Anglais.
Hotel Continental, Altea, Mercure. From the Roaring Twenties to the 1950s, the hotel was a great success thanks to the high level of comfort and services it provided, as well as its exceptional location. In 1973, work was begun to modernise the hotel.
From 1975, Jacques Malapert managed the hotel for 30 years. During those years, the hotel joined several hotel groups: Continental, Altea (Wagonlit), then Mercure (Accor).
Independence, elegance, design. In 2004, Bernard Leng, the CEO and Founder of the IT company Team Partners Group, bought the 4* Hotel Massena in Nice, the 3* Hotel Mediterranee in Menton, and the 3* Hotel Paris Orleans in Paris. He then founded the Summer Hotel Group, a new, independent hotel group of 3- and 4-star hotels, principally in two strategic locations: the French Riviera and Paris.
