Did you know? UNESCO listed Nice as a World Heritage "winter resort town of the Riviera" on July 27th 2021. The UNESCO World Heritage perimeter covers much of Nice at over 500 hectares. From a humble 2-metre-wide footpath in the 19th century, the Promenade des Anglais has become a real emblem of the city of Nice and one of its major sights. On foot, by bike or on roller-skates, the "Prom'" runs along the Mediterranean and its many pebble beaches, to the south, and past luxury hotels with their Belle Epoque or Art-Déco façades to the north. In the shade of the pergolas, the Promenade des Anglais is an invitation to relax and take it easy in Mediterranean style, on the famous blue chairs facing the sea and the Baie des Anges.        
The Promenade des Anglais also hosts a large number of cultural and sporting events all through the year: the Nice CarnivalProm PartyMarathonIron Man, etc.

On foot, go to Place Masséna, then continue as far as the Fontaine du Soleil before going straight on (less than 10 minutes).

The Promenade du Paillon (also know as La Coulée Verte) is a new 12-hectare, 1.2 km-long urban park, connecting the Théâtre de Nice with the sea via Place Masséna. Along the way, you can enjoy great botanical riches with plants from every continent, trees in bloom, a giant reflecting pool with 120 water jets, huge games for children in the shape of wooden marine animals, etc.

With its friendly, lively atmosphere, the Promenade du Paillon is the scene of a large number of events all through the year. This "lung" at the heart of the city centre, just below the Best Western Plus Hotel Masséna Nice, is a nice place to visit and discover during your stay in Nice.

visit to Place Masséna is not to be missed, and is the scene each year for a large number of events: Nice Carnival, the Christmas Market, the Jazz Festival, etc.

 CASTLE HILL PARK

On the site of the older castle, which was demolished in 1706, the Castle Hill Park (Parc de la Colline du Château) provides an exceptional and striking view over the Baie des Anges, the Promenade des Anglais, the Portand the Mediterranean. A favourite spot for afternoon walks, here you can admire magnificent cave plants and a superb waterfall.

On foot, turn left when you leave the hotel, then right into Rue Gubernatis; go straight on as far as Boulevard Jean Jaurès, turn left and then right on Porte Fausse, continue until Place Rossetti, take the Jules Eynaudi stairs and turn left onto the Montée du Château (about 11 minutes).

A walk to this landmark in the history and identity of NiceOld Nice is a must for practically everyone visiting the Provençal city. Come and explore Old Nice, with its wide-ranging aromas and flavours, and enjoy some of the typical culinary specialities, Socca or pissaladière. The famous Cours Saleya with its flower market, vegetables, fruits, etc. will introduce you to new experiences and culinary discoveries. A whole host of market stalls brighten up the city with their multiple treasures. The old town – with its typical little streets – will reserve you plenty of other treasures!
